Mom was never a heavy drinker, but has more than made up for it in the past few days. This little smile will show up and she'll say "get me some of the special stuff," and we'll run to the kitchen and fill up a little glass with ice and ginger ale. We are rewarded with a happy look on her face and the satisfied little "ahhh" when she finishes and lets the straw fall from her lips.

Ah, heh-heh-heh. The Right Stuff. My childhood illnesses were always dowsed by Canada Dry, which my father seemed to consider a sovreign remedy for most ills below the neck. Can't say he was wrong: good stuff.
Also tastes good with a little Canadian Club whiskey: CC and Ginger, the beverage of detective Philip Marlowe.
Ah...or a good rum and ginger ale with a slice of lime. We call those Dick Stoiber's back at Dartmouth after a much beloved geology faculty member.

Hey guys,
I left an email on Diane's email account. I wanted to share with her pictures of the Silver Falls Retreat when she was there in 2005.There are lots of people that she knows and I thought she'd like seeing them. You have to go to Kodak Gallery but it tells you all about it in the email.
All Best,
Judi
Welcome home Jesse!!!
Glad you are all there now.
I like Canadian Dry too....haven't tried it with too many mixes...but must be good.

My love to you all.

Hello friends! It's great to see the pictures of your smiling faces and Diane looking so cozy under Sarah's quilt. Know that if there is ANYTHING you guys need (from delivery of dinner, to telling silly jokes, to mopping up the kitchen floor, to a ginger ale run), give me a call and I'll be right over.
Much love to you all!!!!

Dear sweet Diane and your beautiful family~
I've been following this blog and it is such a beacon of light and strength. I am almost at a loss for words.
Diane, I often think of our many walks in the woods at the SCBWI Silver Falls conference, and our talks about theater and poetry and our lives. Our time together has always meant a lot to me. You are an amazing woman with gifts that have touched so many lives~ your kindness, your creativity, your wit, your power to walk tall and stand up for what you believe. You are loved and admired by so many. And I am honored to be one of your many fans!
Love love love!! And here's to that smile of your that lights up the world!

Will do Megan, thanks mucho for the nice offer to help. Those daffodils you and Jesse rustled up are so lovely. We've a lot of hands around now to help, but if anything changes we'll let you know.
